TBN’s recipe for Hispanics: merge Smile of a Child into Juce, add Salsa

TBN has shuffled its subchannel lineup, merging Smile of a Child (formerly KETH 14.5) into Juce TV (14.3) to make room for the introduction of its new Hispanic-themed channel Salsa on 14.5.

The new Salsa channel targets English-speaking Hispanics.

Smile of a Child is now seen as a 9-hour block on 14.3, from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m. It continues to broadcast 24/7 on www.smileofachildtv.com.

Channel 10 applies to move from channel 40 to channel 14

Interesting tidbit in today’s FCC application list: Citing 4.4% interference from KUBE-TV, Mako Communications has applied to move KUVM-LD from channel 40 to channel 14.

Apart from having to perform a rescan when this change occurs, viewers won’t notice any difference; KUVM-LD’s virtual channel should remain 10.

Channel 14 is free for assignment since KETH, virtual channel 14, is on physical channel 24.

Scattershooting

Must be some tower maintenance going on today. KETH, KTMD, KUBE, and KFTH are all off the air this morning. All four stations are on the southwest-most of the towers at Missouri City.

(At 6:59, KFTH and KUBE came back on. KTMD came back just after 7:00.)

Telestai is still off on 34.1. The station was testing the signal over the weekend, and had audio playing for a while, but no video. This morning, no audio, but a screenshot of Google Chrome… that must be what they’re using to play the Internet stream.

Over on KTRK, the “Live Well HD Network” is now simply “Live Well Network”. Belo picked up the channel for most of its stations (not KHOU, obviously) but will be airing it in standard definition, causing the name change. The station is still in 720p here in Houston.
