The other day, Aeroducks posted that they had seen a list of a number of odd subchannels on KPXB channel 49:
I see on Titan TV Guide new stations listed……….Apparantly ION related……..Listed as 49.100 thru 49.501………….Rescanned but still not there………..
Interestingly 49.400 is Starz, as in movies………..
Trip Ericson has the answer to what is going on: a new subscription service called AirBox is transmitting several scrambled and unscrambled streams on subchannels of Ion stations nationwide. These streams are in MPEG4 format, so your current set won’t be able to decode them, even if your set can lock onto the subchannel.
The channels included are:
100 – Air Box 100
200 – TeleFormula
201 – CineMexicano
202 – LTNvela
203 – VideoRola
204 – Sorpresa
300 – Gol TV
400 – Starz
500 – qubo2, an unencrypted simulcast of qubo
501 – Life2, an unencrypted simulcast of IonLife

Well, if you can’t access these MPEG4 format transmissions what’s the use of having them????……How can anyone access them?????????

They’re probably ramping up for a soft launch to be followed by starting equipment sales at some point soon.
You have to buy their Airbox to access.

What exactly does the airbox entail and how is it different from a regular converter box?
From what I understand, the Airbox will convert standard digital broadcasts as well as the MPEG-4 encrypted Airbox channels. I haven’t tested the box myself to answer that for sure.
I said the same thing. I get all these channels with just an antenna on my digital TV.
When are you plaining to add other channels. Like discovery channels or entretainment

The 2 movie services seem iffy to me , in as much as , I do not get a real firm feeling that the 2 movie services are really available.
I get a feeling that is some kind of catch or trick.
The catch/trick situation/feeling is a over all concern about the Ion/Air Box situation.
my grandmother wants to get one, but she wants to know if she can watch her favorite chanels like the ID channel scifi channel etc. I would like to know will it be easy for an elder to understand how it works?
It would be nice if you could get Discovery, TLC Hist, Hgtv, Food, Cnn, FOX, Weather channel etc and not have to have all the shit channels that you do not want. like church channels, shopping channels, Latino channels.
If that would happen when it comes out in this area I would get it in a heart beat.
People should be able to choose the channels they want, in other words example select any 30 channels for x dollars a month.
Directv, Dish and cable want you to have what they feel you should have.
Or another way they could this is have all your good basic channels in one package and if you want sports add the sports package or add the church channels or add the shopping channels.
All this could be done only if they wanted to do this just like your premium channel packages.
I would like to see a channel lineup I only watch a few stations and like Fritz said I do not want to pay for all the junk or channels I am not interested in. I love syfy but how do I find out if they get that channel?

It’s possible your IP address isn’t recognized by Airbox as being in an area they serve. I see the information when I call up the site.
We need a TV service unlike Directv, Dish and Cable that forces people to pay for what they don’t want, all we want is the good basic channels, no shopping, Latino or Church channels please! Also I hope Airbox doesn’t wind up like USDTV because people will be stuck with a useless receiver that wil be good for nothing.
I purchased an airbox, and the remote stopped working on the 5th day.I changed out the batteries, thinking that might be the issue. The remote still didn’t work. I called airbox personally. they tried to charge me for a new one. I haven’t even had the box 30 days. when I purchased the box I was assured that anything were to go wrong it was under warranty to be replaced free of charge. when I reminded them of that, they stated a supervisor would have to call me back within 24 hours. they have the worst customer service, when they tell you it’s under warranty, and you purchase the product’s, and something goes wrong,and they don’t want to replace it. that is false advertisement. I think they’ll do anything to make a sale. I definitely will find out within the next 24 hours. I’m not purchasing another remote. they will definitely lose a customer. they will also lose many many more. there is nothing worse then word of mouth. I will also go further, and contact every website, that their product is crap. you don’t treat your customers in this fashion. Beware!!
Have you attempted to pair a universal remote with the Airbox? I currently have no connection with the company, I’m just offering a suggestion to remedy your problem.
Ai8r Box offers the same junk I dumped cable for – Spanish speaking channels, home shopping and nothing of interest for a white anlgo male.
If the Airbox has the majority of Spanish speaking channels then what would I buy it for? I am an African American and don’t speak Spanish TThe ads say different. Are they just lying to increase sales and make you get rid of dish or cable to have the channels you get with a regular antenna? That’s crazy and upon reading these reviews, I’m not even going to waste my money. Just like that Clear. They took my money then tried to charge my cars the next month and all I had was 5 channels and the messed JP constantly. You couldn’t even enjoy a movie. It messed up just like it was buffering every 5 minutes. Something should be done about the false advertising. Stop leading people on just to get their money. That is wrong. But guess what, you will never get mine now. I would rather go to Walmart and dig in the $5 bin and buy movies and watch them. I can read and watch the news on my phone. So keep your unusable Airbox. Mary, how the hell did you come up with that crap? They have a website, are you ready? AIRBOX.COM, it’s all premium movie channels like Showtime, Starz, TMC, etc. Ok get this, it’s also a normal DIGITAL CONVERTOR BOX (GASP), that happens to have some crap channels in the first place, that have been there all along forever.
Now to my review: Nowhere on their damn website, on the box, on in the papers included does it mention all of the channels you are ACTUALLY PAYING FOR are in STANDARD definition TV, NOT HD. So imagine ones surprise when they see a really bad looking picure on the channels they are paying for, but excellent picture on the free OTA broadcast channels. The movie channels look like they are playing on a VCR connected to a tube TV, I sh^&t you not folks. The worst free channel looks better than any of the 20 premium movie channels. For 80 year old grandma with a tube TV that’s just swell. For the rest of us, MAJOR FAIL.
Even so, the price is fair, and as they say, it’s better than nothing. If only that would stop over-compressing the signal and replace some of the crap movie channels with popular premium basic like AMC, A&E, HISTORY, NEWS, ETC, we may have a winner, Personally, mine is going back a couple days before the return policy expires. Hopefully they don’t go out of business by the.

You have to pay an EPG fee for the guide, or it WILL NOT record !
Their plan is a friggin $10 overpriced rippof (ONLY less with a plan) !
2 – The PAID content is a low-res subchannel !
In case you didn’t get that, all FREE channals are hi-def, paid = LOW-def !
3 – The warranty IS A LIE,
they will NOT replace a remote that fails TWO days after purchase !
And no, the retailer will not honor it, all they say is call AirBox…

What a rip off. For $10.00 you get nothing but Latino channels . I speak English. For $10.00 more you can get one English channel. Sound like you are prejudice toward people that speak nothing but English. This company must belong to Latino people. I say fair is fair.
This was Airbox’s old lineup. They’re now broadcasting movie channels (Showtime, TMC, Epix).
I just hooked up my airbox tonight, I get 45 channels now whereas i was only getting 2 yes some of them are Spanish but Spanish people watch TV also. I pay absolutely nothing for my channels I do get so I am pretty darn happy with the service they are providing to us.
Why will Airbox no longer be providing anymore cable channels to purchase. I can’t afford regular cable they way to high and they lock you in to a contract. I loved the option if I could afford some cable channels and if not I don’t pay anything extra. What are we as customers supposed to do. Place let me know.
This is news to me. Have they sent you anything to indicate they’re discontinuing those channels? Their website isn’t coming up for me.
$13 dollars a month I get 2700+ channels via iptv and a OTA tuner for local channels using KODI with Recording DVR capabilities on every tv using a Firestick wirelessly in the house. This airbox idea is a total and complete fail!
